Jonathan Hebb, also known as both Chaith and Five Gauge, is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He picked up gaming when he was five years old and has played everything from Sega and Nintendo to other MMORPGs.
He especially enjoys fantasy games, and Guild Wars 2 caught his eye when he saw the first trailers. He hadn’t played the original Guild Wars® before, but he picked it up to fill out his Hall of Monuments in preparation for Guild Wars 2. He says that what drew him to Guild Wars 2 was the combat, which he describes as fast thinking and nonscripted.
On the Abjured:
Five Gauge describes his own team as a combination of the top players from each profession. Their strength lies as much in their group dynamic and attitude toward each other as it does their skill; he says that many teams don’t survive due to internal drama, but the Abjured is a close-knit group that works well together. Their consistency and stability has allowed them to excel in ways that couldn’t be made up for in raw, untempered mechanical skill.
On the Civilized Gentlemen:
He says that TCG is scrappy and good at outmaneuvering, as well as highly rotation focused.
On Orange Logo:
Five Gauge thinks that Orange Logo’s strength lies in their ability to snowball. He feels that they have the same professionalism and drive as his own team.
Five Gauge urges the spectators of the upcoming WTS championship to watch what his team does, because the plays will be very high level. “Every movement is a theory,” he says, “and it pays to study.”
Mark your calendars! You can catch Five Gauge at the World Tournament Series Finals on August 8 at gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
